There are so many ways to promote local foods throughout the entire year, not only during our peak growing season! This calendar highlights some fun “National Food Days” and also shows what the Harvest of the Month is.

As an Agricultural Producer, it can be helpful to familiarize yourself with key products throughout the year that our School Meal Operators may be looking to purchase for varying special events. As Community Members who are looking for ways to support your school meal program, these promotional days are a great opportunity to organize a taste-testing and/or some fun facts for teachers to share with their students. And for our School Meal Operators, this is an excellent resource for planning out fun local food events throughout the school year!

Our CO Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is doing a lot of work to support our childcare providers (0-5 year old’s) with growing their Farm to Child efforts. They created Harvest of the Month Resources and have them translated into Spanish and Arabic! These resources do include recipes that have the CACFP crediting details in place. However, those recipes are still delicious and can be adapted to school meal programs and prepared at home.
