Digital poster sized resources that can be printed and used as resources to promote local foods.
The resource above features a set of 9 different Local Food posters with fun facts about each item and a simple home recipe to follow. These are a fun resource to have hanging in your cafeteria to highlight the local products you are featuring. Students can take photos of the recipes and try them at home with their families. As a School Meal Operator, you could also share these out in a newsletter or a social media post when featuring that local product on your menu. It could be a fun promotional handout to share during a back to school event, especially if samples are involved!
If you wanted to take this to the next level, what about partnering with a school Culinary class or similar and have the students scale the recipe on the poster for large production? They could run taste-tests, work with Food Services to gather nutritionals and crediting information, see the process of starting with a small-scale recipe and how things change as you scale it up, and overall grow their investment and ownership around your meal program while learning valuable skills. If you have a school garden, could the students grow one of the items featured on these posters and then donate, or, even better, sell it to your meal program?
Since the set above has all 9 posters as one, if you would like access to the individual posters, visit this link to find both PDF and PNG files for you to download and use.
